Privacy
What we keep, and why.
OPEN DOOR exists to prove there’s an audience for the feature. The only way to prove that is to count real people, so we ask for a little about you. This is all of it.
Who we are
The site is run by OPEN DOOR FILM, LLC, 8735 Dunwoody Place #10657, Atlanta, GA 30350. You can reach us at this email address — a person reads it.
What we collect
- Your email address — the first thing the form asks for, and the thing the clues are sent to.
- Your first name and ZIP or postal code, with your country — what puts your dot on the map.
- Optionally, your last name and a mailing address — only if you open the “optional” box and type them. The mailing address is for clues we send by post.
- A rough location from your connection — the country and postal area our host reports for your IP address. We use it to pre-select your country, to suggest a ZIP you can correct, and to show your area’s place on the leaderboard. It’s a guess, and it’s never stored with your name.
- How you got here — the platform that sent you (a Facebook post, a link from a friend) and, if a friend shared their link, their referral code, so they get credit.
What we do with it
- The count and the map. Every name and every email counts toward the number on the site. The map shows your first name, a last initial if you gave one, and a dot placed near your city — deliberately nudged a few kilometres so it doesn’t mark your home. Your email, ZIP and street address are never shown anywhere.
- Email from us. Updates about OPEN DOOR and related news — the clue, the feature as it comes together, screenings when they happen, and what grows out of it. We don’t rent or sell the list.
- Clues by post, if you gave a mailing address.
- Showing the numbers to the people who green-light films — as totals and a map, never as a list of names.
Who else touches it
We don’t sell or trade your details. A few services hold or process them so the site can work:
- Vercel hosts the site and runs its analytics, which count visits and button taps without cookies or personal identifiers.
- Supabase stores the list.
- Resend sends our email.
- A postal-code lookup (Zippopotam.us, with OpenStreetMap as a fallback) turns your ZIP into a city and a point on the map. Only the postal code and country are sent — not your name or email.
- Meta — the site carries a Meta Pixel, which tells Facebook that a visit from one of their posts led to a signup. Meta sets its own cookies for that; its handling of them is covered by Meta’s privacy policy, not ours.
Cookies and your browser
When you join, we set one cookie of our own, which lets the clue page know you’re on the list. It lasts a year and holds no personal details. Your browser also remembers your own card locally so you see it again on a return visit; that never leaves your device. The Meta Pixel sets cookies of its own, described above.
Getting off the list
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and one tap does it — no confirmation screen. You can also reply to any of our emails with “unsubscribe,” or write to us. Unsubscribing removes your contact details and keeps your name and dot on the map, since you were counted. If you’d like the name and dot gone too, say so in the same email and we’ll remove them.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you’re in the UK, the EU, Canada, or another place with its own privacy law, those rights are yours by law; everywhere else, they’re ours by choice. Email us and we’ll answer as a person, not a form.
Children
The site isn’t aimed at children under 13 and we don’t knowingly keep their details. If a child has joined, write to us and we’ll remove them.
Changes
If what we collect or do with it changes, this page changes first. These terms apply to everyone who has joined since the site went up on May 27, 2026.
